“What note is that?”

It occurred to me that when I refer to harp strings, I tend to do so by referencing other instruments. My lowest C string is a “cello C.” The next one up is a “viola C.” Then, “middle C,” as in on the piano. After that, there are “tenor high C” and “soprano high C.” I suppose if I had to refer to the Gs it would be as “octavgeige G” and “violin G.”

A standard would be good, but then there’s this.

I suppose this is why conservatories use the piano. That is effectively a standard.
